How to design your Hyper Converged Infrastructure, the new way
With the arrival of Hyper Converged, hardware is pushed more and more to the limit than ever before, giving you good value for your money.
But how do you design your Hyper Converged solution? There are so many (hardware) options. Can you still see the forest through the trees?
In this session I will go over a customer case, how we designed the Horizon View environment. This approach is different as the traditional approach.
This session is not about specific product/vendors. Just the design approach.

VDI by Day, Compute by Night
In a real-life project, I have designed and deployed a VDI platform that was fully utilized for a great User Experience by day. By night, the platform automatically turned into a compute platform to run Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence workloads and fully utilized CPUs, RAM and of course: GPUs. By leveraging the features and technologies in VMware Horizon, VMware vSphere and NVIDIA vGPU we were able to design and build a dynamic platform that is not only able to present the user with a great User Experience, but also offers data scientists a place to run their complex DL/AI (High-Performance Computing) workloads.

In this session, I will explain how the platform was designed, what challenges I faced and how we solved them to get the ultimate VDI/HPC platform. The session will contain multiple demos :)

vSphere ESXi; The platform for past, present & future virtualization!
vSphere ESXi remains to be the fundament for successful abstraction and pooling of compute resources. It is certainly not a commodity. This talk goes into all recent developments in vSphere ESXi.
ESXi is an increasingly important pillar in today's virtual data center with the introduction of new hardware technology support like GPU, PMEM, and RDMA. With industries moving towards ML, AI workloads, the focus is on high performance computing. vSphere ESXi allows for very low overhead while utilizing hardware acceleration to deliver unpreceded performance.
With the move towards Edge computing, we recently announced the support for ARM CPU architecture. What does this mean and what will the future behold?

Automated Multi-Pod Micro-Segmentation with NSX-V
With the implementation of Infrastructure as a Service, DevOps teams can easily request compliant Web-servers, Database-servers and other types of Infrastructure components to build IT driven solutions.
To support growth in the number of workloads we want a flexible design by implementing micro-segmentation in an automated fashion. DevOps teams can utilize availability zones across datacenters to for fill their SLA.
By implementing a design that uses Pods we can offer DevOps teams a network with default connectivity between datacenters.
To make a Pod design independent of other Pods, an NSX-V and vCenter pair need to be created. When combining multiple NSX-V instances, there is no built-in solution to scale beyond two.
To make this possible we develop the automation in Visual Studio Code with TypeScript that transpiles to JavaScript. With maven we build a vRealize Orchestrator package which will be pushed to vRealize Orchestrator.

Debunking the VMware EUC cloud
So you are interested or already doing End User Computing (EUC) within the Cloud? What is your EUC Cloud Strategy?

Many organizations started their Cloud journey with moving to Microsoft Office 365. Now Microsoft Office 365 is well accepted and we are used to moving parts to the cloud, we can ask ourselves: What is our EUC (Cloud) strategy? Do we still need VDI or RDSH? Do we create a hybrid solution or a multi-cloud environment? How do deliver a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure from the cloud?

Over the year, VMware expanded their EUC portfolio with different cloud solutions. In this session, Dennis is focusing of the different VMware EUC cloud solutions and how they are different from each other, but also how they can work together to provide you with the best possible digital Workspace!

Products covered:
Horizon Cloud Hosted
Horizon Cloud on Azure
Horizon on VMware Cloud on AWS
Workspace ONE

Designing for the Unexpected - Delivering IT on a boat with VMware Horizon
This session will discuss some of the key requirements of delivering an IT infrastructure on a boat for a maritime expedition. We will demonstrate how using VMware’s end-user computing solution enabled the science team to deliver complex applications that map the archeology of the Black Sea. Further, we will detail the requirements, constraints, and risks plus the decisions taken to overcome these - making it possible to conduct one of the largest multi-disciplinary maritime archaeology projects ever attempted.

Secure Desktop with NSX under the hood session
